The wide range of cars on offer from BMW means that there are many great options for new and established families to have the car they want.
With different shapes and sizes available, BMWs are adaptable to suit your needs and after looking through the range
Leading the charge are BMW's two dedicated family cars though - the 2 Series Active Tourer and Gran Tourer. Purpose-built for family life, these two MPV versions of the popular 1 Series and 2 Series chassis are ideal for the modern household.
The Active Tourer is the smaller of the two 2 Series offerings, but with fantastic luggage and rear compartment space, you have plenty of room for the rest of your family. The boot has 420 litres of space with the seats up and a further 70 litres under the floor, and with adaptable seats able to fold down, you can create even more space when ferrying things around.
Also fitted with BMW’s latest safety and technology features, you have the confidence that you and your family will be safe and entertained wherever you go.
To make you go further, the Active Tourer is also fitted with the latest in BMW’s TwinPower Turbo technology engines, as well as Brake Energy Regeneration to charge the battery and reduce fuel consumption, and Automatic Start/Stop function.
The Gran Tourer is much the same, but with an extended roofline you get much more space and an extra two seats. It maintains the excellent design of the Active Tourer, but with the extra space you have more adaptability and room to pack and manoeuver.
Both are available in Sport, Luxury and M Sport trim lines, which offer a great range of accessories and give the 2 Series Tourer a feel of quality and quantity.
The Active Tourer is available from £23,310, whilst the larger Gran Tourer starts from £25,010.
Of course, such is the breadth of the BMW model range that many BMWs will fill the family brief. The X1 crossover packs in the utility of a family car with a high riding position for the driver for excellent all-round visibility and four-wheel drive options to make it dependable for any situation and perfect for getting your family almost anywhere
If you prefer a more regular estate model for carting the kids about, the 5 Series Touring has a very roomy 5-seat layout with a large boot which is perfect if you want to take the dogs too.
The X5 combines the roominess of the 5 Series Touring with the ride and four-wheel drive of the X1 to make an excellent one-car-suits-all option. Features installed as standard include the iDrive infotainment system, Driving Assistant and BMW Professional Multimedia system.
