BMW model updates for Spring 2016

BMW has made a few model revisions fresh for 2016 to keep the range lineup as attractive as ever.

The four-cylinder petrol engines in the BMW 4 Series have been updated, with power outputs and efficiency in the 420i and 430i improving for cars from March onwards. The new engines will be available in coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe body styles of the 4 Series and offer a fuel economy rating of up to 51.4mpg for the rear-wheel drive 420i models when equipped with the Steptronic automatic gearbox.

New to the engine range is the six-cylinder petrol 440i, which replaces the 435i. With 326bhp and 332lbft of torque, the 440i delivers performance figures not too far removed from previous generation M cars, hitting 60mph in 5 seconds dead when equipped with the automatic gearbox and a CO2 rating of just 159g/km in hardtop cars.

The astonishing 500bhp M4 GTS is also set to benefit from a revisions, with new unique M Carbon Compound wheels. These are 7kg lighter than even the existing aluminium wheels and reduce unsprung and rotational mass for improved braking and acceleration.

BMW X3 and X4 models are to receive yet more innovative technology options including Wi-Fi hotspot function and updated iDrive menu graphics for the Control Display. Aesthetic additions to the options list include new lightweight alloy wheels and the Chestnut Bronze Metallic hue.

The 6 Series coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe will be updated to include the latest changes to BMW iDrive, as introduced on the 7 Series. All model variants now have a higher resolution 10.2-inch display screen and the updated iDrive controller, along with wireless charging and enhanced Bluetooth.

For March 2016 BMW 7 Series will take on the revolutionary remote control parking feature as an option. Engine start and stop can be controlled via the key, and when outside the vehicle the driver can opt to have the car park itself - though the process can be interrupted if need be. This is a convenient feature when parking spaces are scarce and at best a tight fit.
