From one original design come two uniquely-styled models. On 17 September 2011, the new BMW 1 Series Sport and Urban models were added to a new 5-door line-up with more space, more technology and more choice to express your individuality. Already one of the most popular models within the BMW range, this new second generation BMW 1 Series Sports Hatch is set to have even wider appeal. With its TwinPower Turbo engines, sporty handling and unique driving dynamics, the new BMW 1 Series Sports Hatch is every inch the ultimate driving machine.

Distinctive styling

Distinctive styling and design features, an extended range that includes the Sport, Urban, ES, SE and forthcoming M Sport models, plus numerous interior options give more choice to add your personal touch. For example, the new Sport model has characteristic alloy wheels, striking upholstery and High-gloss black kidney grilles compared to the unique white alloys and side slats of the Urban model.

More space and comfort

Bigger all round the new BMW 1 Series Sports Hatch looks lower and wider, and the bonnet shares the same dynamic curve as the new BMW 6 Series. Inside, the significantly larger and more luxurious interior gives you extra legroom and it is easier to get in and out. The bigger boot also provides plenty of flexible luggage space.

New, larger Control Display

The high standard specification can include Keyless start, multi-function leather steering wheel and Bluetooth hands-free with USB audio interface, which is easily operated using the iDrive controller and new 6.5-inch display.

Advanced connectivity

For customers wanting to update their Facebook and Twitter status, listen to online radio stations and access Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI), there are optional internet and mobile applications available. As the name suggests, RTTI provides precise traffic information from a number of sources in real-time. Colour-coded roads on the Control Display show the severity of the traffic in the surrounding areas, helping you to decide whether to stay where you are or change your route.

New fuel-efficient petrol engines

The new range of highly efficient turbocharged petrol engines work with BMW EfficintDynamics technologies that leave the competition behind on performance and efficiency. The new 116i, for example, is not only 1.1 seconds faster at 0-62mph than the Audi A3 Sportback 1.4 it gives you better fuel consumption at almost 50mpg on the combined cycle.

More miles to the gallon

Auto Start-Stop efficiency technology is now standard on all models, even with the new optional eight-speed automatic transmission, a unique offering in this segment. In addition, the innovative new ECO PRO setting encourages you to drive even more efficiently by showing you how much pressure to apply to the throttle and then displaying how many miles per gallon you've saved on your journey.

As the most economical car in its class and the most enjoyable to drive, the new BMW 1 Series Sports Hatch offers so much more, but from £19,375 on the road it has a price on par with its predecessor.
